BROWN, Margaret Wise. The Noisy Book. With pictures by Leonard Weisgard. NY: William R. Scott, Inc. [1939]. 8vo, [40]pp. Color pictorial boards. Color pictorial endpapers; color illustrations on every page. Spine ends a bit worn, corners rubbed, else a clean, surprisingly bright copy in original color pictorial dust jacket (sunned, light edgewear). With a bookplate signed by the artist, Leonard Weisgard, laid in!
First edition. The first collaboration from the team behind 1947 Caldecott Medal-winning book The Little Island, issued eight years before Brown’s most famous work, Goodnight Moon, was published. A simple, vibrantly illustrated tale of all of the sounds that a little dog encounters around his neighborhood. Fascinatingly, this book technically has no title page, using the cover instead to present the title, author, artist, and publisher.
